Ingibjörg Turchi is an award-winning bassist and composer from Iceland, known for her captivating blend of contemporary jazz, experimental music, and minimalism. Driven by repetition and atmospheric textures, she deconstructs and rebuilds traditional instrumentation through electronic devices to create a deeply mesmerizing sonic landscape.
Stepping forward from wide-ranging session work with iconic artists like Emilíana Torrini, Bubbi Morthens, and Stuðmenn , Turchi has released three brilliant solo projects: Wood/work (2017), Meliae (2020), and Stropha (2023). Her work on Meliae solidified her reputation as a formidable composer, securing Album of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards and a nomination for the Nordic Music Prize.
Splitting her time between high-profile collaborations, theater, and orchestral composing , Turchi performs regularly with her band. She is set to launch a new album in February 2027, followed by a multi-part tour with her quartet throughout the year.
