Ingibjörg Turchi

Ingibjörg Turchi is an award-winning bassist, composer and bandleader from Iceland. She moves freely between jazz, experimental music and rock-tinged minimalism, deconstructing traditional instrumentation through electronic processing to build distinctive, repetition-driven sonic landscapes.

A fixture of the Icelandic scene for over a decade, she has released three solo albums: Wood/work (2017), Meliae (2020) and Stropha (2023). Stropha earned her a nomination for the Nordic Council Music Prize 2026. Meliae won Jazz Album of the Year and Music Production of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards, Album of the Year at the Kraumur Music Awards, and a nomination for the Hyundai Nordic Music Prize.

She has composed for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, which premiered Anemos in 2021, and for the Reykjavík Big Band. Her collaborators include Emilíana Torrini, Bubbi Morthens, Stuðmenn, Soffía Björg, Ylja and Hróðmar Sigurðsson.

Ingibjörg is completing a new studio album, due for release in 2027, and is building her international touring calendar in quartet format around it, with confirmed tour windows in February, April and September 2027.
