ADHD

Unleashing Sonic Magic fusing

jazz, rock and beyond

ADHD

Is an award winning quearted from Iceland that have been recording and performing for over 15 years.

There are bands where every album is a step into the unknown. There are others whose development is a reliable and consistent expansion of their terrain. The latter applies to the Icelandic musicians’ collective ADHD.

Defying categorisation, ADHD’s sonic landscape seamlessly blends jazz, rock, ambient, and folk. Their music creates an immersive and exhilarating experience. Critics and fans alike have praised their originality, creativity, and virtuosity.

The band consists of four professional musicians who have been playing together for almost two decades:

Óskar Guðjónsson: Saxophone

Ómar Guðjónsson: Guitar, pedal steel, and bass

Tómas Jónsson: Piano and keyboards

Magnús Trygvason Eliassen: Drums

You who know us from way back remember Davíð Þór Jónsson who left the band in 2018 and was replaced by Tómas Jónsson.

DISCOGRAPHY

The first album was recorded at Óskars home back in 2009 were the band did most of the recordings themselves and the release was a typical DIY by the band.

The second album was recorded in a wonderful studio in Vestmannaeyjar and was recorded by Ívar Ragnarsson, who has been the fifth member of the band ever since and has recorded and mixed all the albums from then on.

Contemblate a German label released albums 2-5 and helped the band to establish their audience in the Germanic market.

From albums 3 and 4, whom were released together, the band has been blessed with the amazing eye of Spessi Hallbjörnsson an established Icelandic photographer, who during a spell was living and writing his chopper in Texas, where he captured the owesome cover of album #8.

The band has also been blessed to have the graphic designer Arnar Geir Ómarsson at Helsinki to design the covers from the twin recordings of 3 & 4 and onwards.

In 2024 ADHD and enja / Yellowbird reach an agreement to release ADHD 9 and again in 2025 they made an agreement to release ADHD 10 in October 2026.

All albums were released on CD and are available on streaming.

The first album released on vinyl was ADHD 5. Since then the following albums have also been released on vinyl.

Reviews

  • "When you listend to the ADHD qeuartet, .. This unrestrained stream of human vibriations exceeds all boundaries of the genre and facinated not only jazz but also rock fans."

    *****

    www.jazz.sk on ADHD 9

  • "It simmers, hisses, and clatters; a pedal steel guitar wails, a melodica exudes Ita Lowestern vibes, and eventually the band finds its footing, and anthemic melodies emerge from the bubbling mix of groove and noise—only to disappear again. Sluggish drums, a roaring Hammond organ, a bubbling bass, and an expressive saxophone"

Jazz n’ More on ADHD 9

  • “..[ADHD] produces a sound the captivates the listener from the very beginning. The mixture of jazz, rock elements and more creates an experimental and at the same time sonically catchy mood that impresses”
